Yesterday, Februari 4th, 2022, the new single by Tip Jar was released. Bart de Win and Arianne Knegt were inspired by the lush folkrock ballads they grew up with. Looking for the same romantic, melancholy mood and the rich harmonies we know from the likes of Jackson Browne, Poco, Eagles or Fleetwood Mac. Bittersweet memories, the struggle called love, and the big challenges humanity has to face, melt together in this song.
It's the 1st single from album number 6 by Tip Jar, to be released in the near future. A year ago it’s predecessor "One Lifetime" was released, but the pandemic prevented the increase of concerts we were hoping for, even though the stream of great reviews was promising enough. Luckily creativity never seems to stop, so Bart and Arianne started writing and planning right away. Last fall, in between lockdowns, during a brief period of cultural live events, they were involved in a 2 week tour with their friends from Austin, Texas. Of course they ended up in Eric van de Lest’s studio in Eindhoven. Late december Tip Jar, together with Walt Wilkins, released the comforting song "I Will Find You", soon to be followed up by the new single "White Sands", with Bill Small on bass and harmony vocal.
Bart de Win is, after a 10 year break during which he played in Matthews Southern Comfort with Iain Matthews, again accompanying Gerard van Maasakkers, a famous Dutch language singer songwriter. With his partner in crime, Arianne Knegt, he started his own band Tip Jar in 2013. They operate in an international melting pot of musical friends and surround themselves with americana heroes like Walt Wilkins, jazz stars like Gilad Atzmon, young talents like Baer Traa, and Dutch string virtuosos like Harry Hendriks, BJ Baartmans and Joost van Es. Tip Jar’s original infectious americana and the love for American roots music connected them to places like Gruene Hall and Luckenbach, where they played many times and placed them in line ups of several music festivals in Texas.
