Next Stop Christmas

This year, West Of Eden celebrates 25 years as a band. Cheers! But instead of a gold watch, it had to
be a Christmas album.

After many years of touring both in Sweden and abroad with their successful 'Celtic Christmas' concerts, they finally found a gap in their tight schedule, allowing them to record some of the many songs their loyal fans demanded. Typically, the rare opening appeared in the middle of this summer's heatwave.

However, that most of the songs were recorded when it was 32 degrees outside, and possibly even hotter in the studio, isn't noticeable. 5 traditional Irish and British Christmas songs join forces with a pile of new tracks, written by the creative hub of the group, the married couple Jenny and Martin Schaub.

But two songs called "Next Stop Christmas"? Isn't that a bit unimaginative? Martin says, "We had decided it was a good title that we were going to use. One evening it turned out that we had each written a song with that very title. Normally we would have gone for one or the other, but this time we just couldn’t choose. Both felt obvious, but in different ways. They set the tone of the record and frame the album in a nice way, I think".

The 1st single, as well as the above mentioned title track, will be released on November 4th, 2022 and offers a guest appearance by Stefan Andersson, think Sweden’s Bruce Springsteen, at the vocal microphone. The song tells of 3 persons that all make their own journeys, stuck in the same train carriage on Christmas Eve.

Other prominent guests on the album are John McCusker, who've worked with Mark Knopfler and others, and Steph Geremia, who've worked with Eddi Reader and others.

'Celtic Christmas' has its tour premiere on November 26th, 2022, with the album released one day before, November 25th. This year, West Of Eden steps off the train on 19 platforms. It's "Next Stop Christmas"!
