3rd and final single from West Of Eden's critically acclaimed concept album, "Whitechapel", is the evocative and Knopfler-esque guitar-driven "The Ten Bells".
"The Ten Bells" is an old, yet still existing, pub in the Whitechapel area, and alongside The Frying Pan and The Queen’s Head, one of the pubs that Jack The Ripper's 1st victim, Polly Nichols, often frequented in the 1880s. Maybe it was right here, in the temporary shelter from the cold outside, that he first spotted her? Of course, we'll never know, but it could very well have been.
So “say a prayer for Polly Nichols, let’s hope she will be alright, there are shadows, there is evil lurking out there in the night”.
