“Much like the folkier side of Paul Simon, who seems a clear mentor, Michaels’ lyrical skills allow him to be reflective and wry in his crafty wordplay.” ~ Roots Music Report

Jaime Michaels believes it’s best to face adversity with kindness, both to yourself and others. That’s his message in “Angelus”. Inspired by both the old proverb 'Man plans, God laughs', and John Lennon’s lyric 'Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans', the song is 1 of the 11 tracks on the Santa Fe, New Mexico, based contemporary folk americana singer songwriter’s forthcoming 12th studio album, "How To Shine", which is slated for worldwide release in late April 2023.

Produced by Jono Manson at his Kitchen Sink Studio, "How To Shine" will feature a stylistically eclectic mix of songs by Michaels, along with a couple of choice covers. In addition to Michaels on lead vocals and guitar, “Angelus” features Manson on harmony vocals, Ronnie Johnson on bass, Paul Pearcy on drums, and Jeff Scroggins on banjo. Also lending their musical talents to the album are singer songwriter Claudia Buzzetti and dobro player Paolo Ercoli, both from Italy, cellist Dirje Childs
and guitarist Andrew Hardin, both from Texas, and noted sideman and session musician Jason Crosby, a California based multi instrumentalist.

“He writes songs with special meanings, with a sense of purpose, a sense of belief that music is as critical to life as breathing itself.” ~ Wanda Fischer, Hudson River Sampler, WAMC FM
