Outside a handful of live performances and guest appearances, Carly Simon has been relatively quiet on the music front since her last album, 2009’s "Never Been Gone", which featured a selection of acoustic versions of her own work. But she’s set to break her album streak with "Comes In Waves", her 1st album of original material since 2008’s "This Kind Of Love". The new record is out August 14th, 2026.

The album was co-written and produced with David Spencer, and features one of the late John Forté’s last recorded appearances. Simon was a close friend of Forté and was instrumental in the rapper and Fugees producer’s early release from prison in 2008. Simon’s children Ben and Sally Taylor and longtime collaborators Paul Samwell-Smith and Frank Filipetti also guest.

Simon says of the 1st single, "Howl", in a press release, “This song lives in that space between betrayal and forgiveness, where anger has to be voiced before it can be released. It’s about letting the frustration out, so it doesn’t sit and simmer. The song begins in anger, but it moves toward forgiveness, and speaks to any situation where trust has been broken."
