"Everything about Mike Finnigan was immense. His talent. His storytelling. His voice. His musicianship. He was my musical sidekick for 30 years and my best friend for 40. This album is a great example of Mike in his own right." ~ Stephen Stills

More than 4 years after his death, the definitive musical testament of Hammond B3 legend Mike Finnigan will be released . The new, eponymous album, with guests like Stephen Stills, Smokey Robinson, Joe Bonamassa and Kelly Finnigan, finally shows the full power of his voice and blues feeling. An impressive ode to a musician who could be heard everywhere, but was not in the spotlight enough.

He was admired by the greats of the world and appeared on thousands of stages and records, but always in the service of others. Mike Finnigan, 1945–2021, was the undisputed master of the Hammond B3 and one of the most expressive blues singers of his generation. Now, more than 4 years after his death, the posthumous, eponymous album, "Mike Finnigan" will be released on March 26th, 2026, a release that finally fully shows who he was as a solo artist.

At the age of 22, Finnigan played on Jimi Hendrix' "Electric Ladyland", which included the classics "Rainy Day, Dream Away" and "Still Raining, Still Dreaming". He was later signed to Warner by Jerry Wexler, released his solo album "Black And White" on Columbia and built a career that made him one of the most esteemed session musicians in American music history.

The list of artists Finnigan has played with is almost incredible: Bonnie Raitt, CSNY, Joe Cocker, Tracy Chapman, Dave Mason, Peter Frampton, Etta James, Taj Mahal, Joe Walsh, Michael McDonald, Tower Of Power, Rod Stewart, Leonard Cohen, Alice Cooper, Ringo Starr, and countless others.

For his last album, an impressive group of top musicians came together. Among them, Stephen Stills, Smokey Robinson, Joe Bonamassa and Kelly Finnigan. In addition, several leading Los Anegeles studio musicians collaborated, making the album feel like a loving musical guard of honor.

"Mike Finnigan" is more than a collection of recordings, it is a carefully curated tribute to an artist who left his mark on American music, often without his name being at the front. This release finally brings him to the place he deserves, in the middle of the light.
