"Full of cautionary tales and a passion for life, from an artist who embraces each moment” ~ Scott Carlito, Gashouse Radio
On Michael Henchman's 3rd album project, "If The Sky Fell", he shares his ongoing fascination with cinematic sensibilities and sweeping stories. While the album is grounded in contemporary and alternative folk, with spacious and textural stylings, Michael reveals more of his musical palette and background in roots and jazz influences. This collection of songs, in one way or another, takes note of the inexorable passage of life, of our precious moments and of striving to taste and feel and remember them, of the future which quickly becomes the past.
Michael Henchman lived in central Alaska for many years before migrating south to the music circles of Portland, Oregon. The open spaces, pure wilderness and wide seasonal swings farther north, together with travel across the US and Europe throughout his childhood, crystallized his sense of what is often felt more than is seen, of how the heart becomes entangled by time and distance, of journeys on the quest for connective meaning that we all share.
