High Moon Records is proud to announce the return of legendary New York City singer, songwriter and producer Lotti Golden, with the release of “Dance To The Rhythm Of Love (Brill Building Demo)”. This recently unearthed recording sets the stage for High Moon’s deluxe reissue of her landmark debut album, "Motor-Cycle", arriving Friday, March 28th, 2025, on CD and LP.
"Motor-Cycle" includes lavish, 32 page LP and 48 page CD booklets with extensive liner notes detailing the astonishing story of how the teenage Lotti Golden came to make an album as singular and audacious as "Motor-Cycle". With exclusive essays by Richard Hell and David Toop, and a wealth of archival photos, including more than 30 never before seen photographs by pioneering rock photographer, Baron Wolman.
Along with the original album track listing, the "Motor-Cycle" CD includes the rarely heard Atlantic single “Sock It To Me Baby/It’s Your Thing” b/w “Annabelle With Bells (Home Made Girl)”.
Whoever said that youth is wasted on the young wasn’t paying attention when a precocious Brooklyn teen named Lotti Golden was lighting artistic fireworks from inside the 1960's music business machine, blazing her own trail through the gatekeepers and into the future.
Golden, a singer, songwriter, poet, and high school honors student, was regularly making the trek from Brooklyn to the fabled Brill Building in midtown Manhattan to shop her songs. Her songwriting and her powerful, soulful vocals were a hit with the writers and publishers, landing her work as a demo and session singer.
At age 16, Golden landed a publishing deal with Saturday Music, owned by superstar producer and hit maker Bob Crewe. As a staff songwriter Golden wrote “Dance To The Rhythm Of Love”, arranging and producing a full band demo and singing lead, a test of her confidence and vision that she absolutely owned. The same vitality and artistry she later brought to her debut album, "Motor-Cycle", is obvious on the recently unearthed acetate of the demo. Golden’s songwriting chops and musical instincts were soon rewarded when Patti LaBelle, the 'Godmother Of Soul', and her Bluebelles released a version.
Lotti Golden’s tremendous gifts, her soul power vocals, badass attitude, masterful songwriting and enduringly hip style, presage uncompromising female artists like Joan Jett, Karen O, Madonna and Kesha, and “Dance To The Rhythm Of Love” feels like a bolt of musical electricity, hot sparks from a fearless young woman on the verge.
