Gentle Giant’s 1977 album, "The Missing Piece", is to be reissued next month. The album marked something of a change in direction for the British band, with one half experimenting with new styles and the other embracing the progressive rock they were most closely associated with. The line up featured the same personnel that had recorded 1976’s "In’terview", that is Derek Shulman, Ray Shulman, Kerry Minnear, Gary Green and John ‘Pugwash’ Weathers.
Steven Wilson has again worked with Gentle Giant and has remixed the album in both stereo and spatial audio and 3 new physical formats feature some or all of this new work. New vinyl and CD editions offer the new stereo mix of "The Missing Piece", but the CD/BluRay edition is likely to be the most popular, since the BluRay element delivers Dolby Atmos, stereo and 5.1 surround sound and instrumental mixes of the album. The BluRay also offers newly created visuals for each track.
"The Missing Piece" will be reissued on March 29th, 2024, via Chrysalis Records.
