Produced by Dan Austin, Del Amitri's "Fatal Mistakes" made # 5 in the UK national album chart, which was the 6th Top 10 for the band, and the highest charting album since "Twisted" in 1995. The album also made # 2 on the Independent album chart, and # 5 on the vinyl album chart. "Fatal Mistakes" also achieved the band's highest chart position in Germany to date.
Throughout their 1st chapter, Del Amitri released a succession of hits, including "Nothing Ever Happens", "Always The Last To Know", and "Roll To Me", which became international radio staples, propelling a career that accomplished 5 UK Top 10 albums and 6 million sales.
Justin Currie speaks about one of the tracks on the new album "Outtakes & B-Sides", "When Iain presented me with this psychedelic swamp blues it called out for the stream of consciousness treatment. Sadly I'm no Dylan and this pathetic attempt to summon the spirit of 'Subterranean Homesick Blues' refracted through the streets of Glasgow ended up in the outtakes pile. The only thing I can say in mitigation is that it's all true, every word".
