Roots Rock Reggae

A classic Bob Marley & The Wailers run from 50 years ago will finally be officially released on August 28th, 2026, via Tuff Gong Records, Island Records and Universal Music. Titled "Roots, Rock, Reggae : Live At The Hammersmith Odeon", the previously unissued 18 track live document will capture the reggae pioneers’ June 15th to 18th, 1976, stand at London’s Hammersmith Odeon, which kicked off the 2nd leg of their 'Rastaman Vibration' tour.

According to the album announcement the prestigious booking was a risky move, with a ticket count 5 times of a usual Wailers show. They sold it out, and the group seized the moment with utter fire and precision, leaving reviewers grasping for words to describe what they’d witnessed. Bob’s time had come. The residency proved to be a watershed moment for the group. 2 years earlier, within months of Eric Clapton taking "I Shot The Sheriff" to # 1 in the US, Marley had answered with "Natty Dread" in 1974, his 1st major statement for a widening international audience. "Live!", recorded at London’s Lyceum Theatre, delivered the breakthrough in late 1975, aided by the concert version of "No Woman, No Cry", which reached the UK top 20 in early 1976. This growing momentum carried Marley into his celebrated June run at London’s Hammersmith Odeon. In the weeks that followed, "Rastaman Vibration" became his 1st US top 10 album.

The set will arrive in multiple configurations, including as a 180 gram 2 LP vinyl set. It will also be available as an exclusive limited edition 2 LP color vinyl set, and as a standard 2 CD set, in addition to being released as digital download and streaming at all DSPs and, where available, an ATMOS mix for the full “you are there” concert experience.
