“'Digesting History' challenges a patriarchal paradigm. For my songwriting, this one is quite firm and explicit in its intention to question the norms of society. It has a grit that reaches beyond just observing the world, instead placing myself firmly within it with a longing to be heard. It is my call to untame, and to ask what it means, and what it has always meant, to be a woman in this world.” ~ Isabel Rumble
With a quiet confidence and lyrical honesty, Isabel Rumble unveiled "Digesting History" on Friday, October 3rd, 2025. This final single before the release of her forthcoming album, "Hold Everything Lightly", on October 24th, offers a final glimpse into the album’s core themes, transition, letting go, womanhood and the gentle clarity that comes with change.
"Hold Everything Lightly" stands as a deeply assured statement of identity, distilling Isabel’s indie folk sound into 10 tracks that move between inner landscapes and the wider world. At its heart, the record explores cycles of growth, womanhood, and renewal, while returning to the stillness that has always guided her work.
“The songs on this album are the most vulnerable I’ve written”, Isabel shares. “It feels like a return to simplicity, the heart’s voice, unguarded and true”.
With "Digesting History", Isabel steps into new territory as her 1st release written on piano. The track opens with steady piano chords and Isabel’s intimate vocal, gradually unfolding into layers of plucked and bowed strings. The arrangement expands like a long breath in, carrying the song’s weight with tenderness. Lyrically, it reflects on the stories we inherit, whose voices shape them, and the longing to step forward into those narratives with strength. It is a call to untame and embrace what it means to be a woman in the world, leaving the listener with resolution like an affirming exhalation.
Isabel will take "Hold Everything Lightly" on a nationwide Australian tour and will return to Europe and the UK in May to August 2026 .Each show is an invitation to immerse into spaces of deep listening, where Isabel’s songwriting becomes a shared act of presence and connection.
