Windows Vol 2

The 2nd volume of Jesper Lindell’s solo project ”Windows” is paying tribute to some of Jesper’s favorite songs and songwriters.

According to Wikipedia, Bob Dylan has written more than 600 songs and they have been covered by other artists 1 500 times. That sounds like a very careful estimation, the true number of covers is probably way higher. So why another Bob Dylan cover? Well, the idea behind “Windows Vol 2” is to pay tribute to some of the best and most influential songwriters of our time. How could you possibly avoid doing a Bob Dylan song? Out of several options, Jesper finally picked “Sweetheart Like You”, taken from the 1983 album “Infidels”. A song that has been covered a few times only and, above all, a song that Jesper immediately fell in love with and felt he could do justice.

The last few years Jesper Lindell has received many favorable reviews. One common factor for almost all of them is that the writers in one way or another are referring to Van Morrison. Jesper does not mind, indeed he's flattered, and he happily admits that Van The Man and his music is a great source of inspiration. For “Windows”, Jesper picked the somewhat neglected "Bulbs", taken from the 1974 album "Veedon Fleece".

”Quits” is a song by US singer songwriter Danny O’Keefe, perhaps best known for ”Good Time Charlie’s Got The Blues”. ”Quits” has previously been recorded by Glen Campbell, among others.

”Once In A Dream” is the Italian song “Un Malato Di Cuore”, written by the legendary Fabrizio De André. English lyrics by Jesper Lindell. De André was a highly regarded songwriter and artist who passed away in 1999, often talked about as an Italian mix of Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen.

”Fire Lake” is taken from Bob Seger’s best selling 1980 album ”Against The Wind”. Bob Seger is a childhood idol of Jesper’s and he continues to be an all time favorite.

The "Windows" series is designed to be a side project for material that doesn't fit Jesper Lindell’s regular band. Jesper's in a highly creative phase, ideas and great songs keep coming.
