The album that has long been a favorite gateway into Frank Zappa’s vast musical universe has been newly expanded into the collection "Over-Nite Sensation : 50th Anniversary Edition." The 88 track, 5 disc expanded super deluxe edition contains 4 CD's and 1 BluRay with outtakes, alternate edits, and unedited bonus vault masters, plus 2 previously unreleased live concert recordings from 1973, showcasing the same band that recorded the classic album, at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles and at Cobo Hall in Detroit.
The BluRay contains the core album newly remixed in Dolby Atmos and 5.1 surround sound, plus it offers Zappa’s original 4-channel quadraphonic mix, available again for the 1st time since 1973, as well as the hi-res stereo 2012 remaster. The set is rounded out with a 48 page booklet and unseen photos from the album cover shoot by Sam Emerson, along with liner notes and new essays by noted audiophile journalist Mark Smotroff and Joe Travers.
In addition to the super deluxe edition box set, there are 2 vinyl offerings, including a 2 LP set black audiophile vinyl reissue with the album cut at 45 rpm for the 1st time ever from the original analog tape, plus a bonus 24” x 12” poster of the complete cover art. Also, there’s a limited edition 3 LP deluxe color vinyl version with the album cut at 45 rpm on LP's 1 and 2, and a 3rd LP with 35 minutes of bonus tracks culled from the box set.
All will be available everywhere on November 3rd, 2023.
