On January 6th, 2023, the legendary Iggy Pop will add to his illustrious career with a new studio album, "Every Loser". It will be Pop’s 19th solo album and the 1st release between the Atlantic Records and Gold Tooth Records partnership. Gold Tooth Records is a new label founded by Andrew Watt, the Grammy winning musical mastermind who serves as the executive producer on "Every Loser". Joining Iggy Pop are Watt, drummer Chad Smith, of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and bassist Duff McKagan, of Guns N’ Roses, essentially making this project a supergroup of sorts.
“I’m the guy with no shirt who rocks, Andrew and Gold Tooth get that, and we made a record together the old fashioned way”, says Iggy Pop. “The players are guys I’ve known since they were kids and the music will beat the shit out of you”.
Watt is something of an unstoppable force in rock these days. Just in the last year, the rising star has been heavily involved in releases and tours from Eddie Vedder and Ozzy Osbourne, as well as additional work with Justin Bieber, Post Malone, Elton John, Ed Sheeran, Miley Cyrus and Dua Lipa, seamlessly adding himself into a mix of elder rockers like Pop, Smith and McKagan. At just 32, Watt is becoming one of the hardest working figures in rock music, and this latest Iggy Pop collaboration is another example why.
“Iggy Pop is a fucking icon. A true original. The guy invented the stage dive. I still can’t believe he let me make a record with him. I am honored. It doesn’t get cooler. This album was created to be played as loud as your stereo will go, turn it up and hold on”, Watt says.
